Like everyone else’s gift ideas around Mother’s Day, I thought of no better way to show to my mother that I truly appreciate her than by giving her a beautiful piece of jewelry. I know my father discovered the many benefits of giving my mother jewelry (the bigger the stone the better!) and has learned not to tamper with this highly successful formula.
So when the Four Pearls of Beckstrand Cancer Foundation decided to host a Mother’s Day fund raising event to honor all mothers whose lives have been touched by cancer, the David Yurman Boutique at South Coast Plaza was the perfect choice for such an occasion. Hosted by Four Pearls Board members, Veronica Muth, Lauren Collins and Catherine Stephens, this fun Mother’s Day shopping event would go to benefit the pediatric oncology program for Cancer Patients in the Orange County areas. The Four Pearls also decided to recognize one mother in particular, Debra Joy Stephens, mother to one of the Four Pearls, Catherine Stephens, who succumbed to inflammatory breast cancer; this fundraiser would serve in remembrance to the courage and strength that she possessed while battling breast cancer.
The boutique was filled to the brim with beautiful and tanned friends of the Four Pearls. Looking very festive in their designer spring attire were Lil Spitzer, Stephanie Muth, Lauren Darnell, Liz Griffiths and Annie Finnell. Off to the side and drawing just as many admiring stares as the diamonds from the beautiful crowd, Evan Slavik, Jeff Schwartz, Brady O’Connell and Will Milligan chatted and sampled the delicious hors d’oeuvres.
Sipping on champagne were Sashe Graff, Lindsay Ayers, Dr. Tonia Marralle and Christine Cawthon. This benefit collection represents an opportunity to ensure that young patients can battle cancer with hope, dignity, and have the freedom to engage fully in their healing process. The night was an obvious success as the glittering crowd was still going strong and boutique employees rushed about to gift-wrap purchases; this was a Mother’s Day that many will not be forgetting anytime soon!
